Major redevelopent for one of Plymouth’s oldest housing estates
The £168million, ten-year redevelopment project was revealed July 2009 after many years of consultations and is possibly the largest development scheme the city has witnessed in decades. Plymouth Community Homes, who are one of four main contractors who have all agreed to use local sub contractors, manufacturers, trade supplies an are equally committed to using local labour. Each contractor was also keen to get involved in community projects too, demonstrating their commitment to putting something back into Plymouth. “The successful contractors demonstrated excellent value for money together with a commitment to boost job numbers and apprenticeships in the city, which can only be welcomed in the current economic climate.”
B&C Roofing have been rewarded for hitting all targets
B&C Roofing tendered for the roofing and roofline products and were delighted when it was announced we had been successful and were awarded the contract on a one year trial basis. It has recently been announced that B&C have been rewarded for hitting all targets and quotas with a further 3 year extension to the contract, and are thrilled to be a part of a prestigious regeneration project.
What was expected of us and our role in the regeneration project
The work comprises of removing existing roof coverings along with the fascias, soffits and rainwater goods whilst achieving a re-cycle rate of 94% when disposing of all materials. Installing new insulation to the loft spaces along with new P.V.C. wares and then re-instating all elevations with breathable felt, battens, new slates and a vented hip and ridge system. B&C met all targets set for them with up to 10 houses a week being required and the client was suitably impressed with the high standards and quality reached.
